Brief history
Sorachi Ace was developed in Japan by Sapporo Breweries from Brewer's Gold, Saaz-derived and Japanese breeding material and was released in the 1980s. It later gained international attention through craft brewing.
General description
Highly distinctive, with pronounced lemon character together with sweet and cedar-like notes.
Brewing use
Best used for late hopping and dry hopping when its unusual lemon-led profile is desired. It can work particularly well in saisons, wheat beers, pale ales and experimental recipes.
