Brief history

Cascade was selected by the USDA breeding program in Corvallis, Oregon, in 1956 and commercially released in 1972. It later became one of the best-known varieties associated with the development of American craft brewing.

General description

A distinctive citrus and fruity profile, with noticeable floral and herbal notes. Grapefruit is one of its most characteristic aroma descriptors.

Brewing use

Widely used for late hopping and dry hopping, especially when a fresh citrus and aromatic character is desired. It can also provide moderate bittering.
