Brief history

Comet was developed by the USDA from a cross made in Oregon in 1961 and released in 1975. After declining in commercial importance, it later found renewed interest in craft brewing.

General description

A lively profile dominated by grapefruit and citrus, with herbal and lightly grassy undertones.

Brewing use

Suitable for both bittering and aroma. Late additions and dry hopping can bring out its grapefruit character in pale ales, IPAs and modern lagers.
