Brief history
Columbus was developed through a private US breeding program as a high-alpha variety. It is closely associated with Tomahawk and Zeus and is commonly grouped with them under the name CTZ.
General description
Intense and pungent, with citrus, resinous and spicy notes together with distinctive fennel and anise-like tones.
Brewing use
Excellent for efficient bittering and also widely used in late hopping and dry hopping for assertive IPAs, pale ales and other strongly hopped beers.
